Raeford, N.C. — A Raeford man was shot in the head early Sunday at a club in Hoke County, Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said.
Officers were dispatched to McRae's, a private club at 2923 Doc Brown Road, around 1:30 a.m. to investigate a shooting.
Royal Terrance Wyatt Jr., 33, of 750 Gatlin Farm Road, was found dead inside from a gunshot wound to the head with what appeared to be a 9mm handgun, Peterkin said.
Detectives determined that Wyatt had been assaulted by several people before the shooting.
No arrests have been made and the shooting is still under investigation.
