Raleigh, N.C. — Traffic was backed up for miles Sunday afternoon on Interstate 40 East near the N.C. Highway 55 exit due to a vehicle crash.

No injuries have been reported, authorities said.

Around noon Sunday, two westbound lanes of I-40 were closed after a vehicle crash near Lake Wheeler Road, authorities said.

Traffic was congested in the area for about an hour.

Raleigh emergency dispatchers said four EMS units, two fire trucks and several police officers were sent to the scene, but no serious injuries were reported.

Witnesses reported that at least one vehicle overturned.
