Fuquay-Varina, N.C. — An armed man surprised and robbed a woman taking packages into her Fuquay-Varina house around noon Friday, according to the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

When the woman came home after running errands, a man carrying a knife followed her into her 1304 Holland Hills Drive house, demanded money and then ran out the door, said Phyllis Stephens, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. He was last seen running from the Holland Hills subdivision on Purfoy Road toward N.C. Highway 55.

He is described as black, in his late 30s or early 40s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants, a blue bandanna on his head and sunglasses.
