print friendly

Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will visit Raleigh on Wednesday for a private fundraiser at the home of a local business owner.

John M. Kane and his wife, Willa Kane, will host the 42-year-old Republican congressman at their home off Lassiter Mill Road.

The 5 p.m. event costs $2,500 for a general reception ticket, $15,000 for a photo reception or $25,000 for the VIP reception, according to a flier for the fundraiser.

John Kane is the chairman and chief executive officer of Kane Realty Corp., a real estate and development firm that lists North Hills as its signature property.

Kane serves on boards for several operations, including the North Carolina Symphony, the Research Triangle Regional Partnership and the Duke Raleigh Hospital Advisory Board, according to his business website.

This 16 trillion is mostly GOP debt. They caused the bulk of this, with their wars and tax cuts for the rich. It's ruining the country.

You may pass 5 million untaxed, is that not enough for your already spoiled children?

The president is not going to just institute a tax on the rich. We needed congress to act, and GOP obstructionists used a process known as the filibuster to prevent even debating the subject. If the senate does not get 60 votes to invoke debate, business is moved on to the next thing. Usually renaming post offices. We need at least 60 sane people that want to talk about the issues and then vote with a simple majority yea or nay. They, the GOP, are scared of the simple majority so they prevent debate. They did this 150 times in Obama's first term. All this just to make the president look bad. The millionaires don't even really mind the tax all that much. For some reason the middle class 'coal miners for Mitt', they really mind. Why?

We needed more stimulus but GOP obstructionists wouldn't allow us a 3% millionaires surtax to build roads and pay down debt. godnessgracious2

So $16 trillion in debt is not enough for you? YOUR share, unless of course you dont pay taxes is already about $140,000. I hope you have a really good job. LOL. Of course YOU want someone else to pay your share of that debt... so why not spend more? And that 3% tax on millionaires would not even pay the interest on the debt for a month or two... let alone pay the actual debt down. And WHY should anyone pay an estate tax to begin with? If I work hard, am successful and wish to leave it to my children... what gives the govt the right to take it just because I had the audacity to die? NOTHING but govt greed.

Please, that was Franklin Delano: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Deal
