I wonder if he Johnston County deputy's handcuffs were broken or he miplaced his ticket book. What's the need to call a trooper when you have the juice to do the job yourself?

ncpilot2 - your post is a bunch of biased huey! You wouldn't know a police call if one hit you between the eyes! You're the kind of person who bemoans a couple of officers sitting somewhere talking as "lazy". You don't know what they are discussing or what they were involved in 5 minutes earlier. All you see is someone you dispise and take cheap pot-shots at. Speeding!! Every "response" doesn't require "lights & siren" and your permission!

How interesting? This officer is off duty and gets himself in a pickle. Several years ago an Apex detective, along with other SWAT team members (including an administrator) show up to training intoxicated and even stop at the store for more booze and it gets swept under the rug. In fact the detective received Officer Of The Year. There is far more wishy-waschastity that goes on in that agency than then public knows. As soon as the current chief is gone and a new chief comes in and cleans house...you'll see!

I am inclined to agree but would only add that I wish more police would take the same attitude as regards people who are not part of the blue brotherhood.

Of course you have evidence to substantiate that this is more prevalent problem in the north than the south? Also, comparing north to south is quite an extreme generalization. As far as NC doing a good job weeding out the bad, practice makes perfect as they never quite get caught up with all the weeding. Maybe they should become more proactive than reactive.
