Sanford, N.C. — Sanford police say a dog chased a bear into a tree Wednesday morning near the local Division of Employment Security office.
A police spokesman said workers heard the dog barking, and when they looked, they saw the bear climbing into a tree near the intersection of Lee Avenue and Horner Boulevard.
The bear came out of the tree shortly before 10:30 p.m. and ran into the woods, a Lee County wildlife official said.
