A Fayetteville man who abused his toddler in 2004 now faces first-degree murder charges in the boy's death.

After a 24-hour manhunt, Harold Farris was taken into custody Wednesday evening, police said.

Farris was convicted in 2006 of felony child abuse and child abuse inflicting serious injury. He served more than two years in prison, and his parole ended in September 2009, according to state Department of Correction records.

His son, Jeramiah, had been hospitalized since the abuse and was in a comatose state, police said. He died last year at the age of 9.

I hope they find him and I hope the jury/judge gives him the death sentence! This makes me sick how anyone could harm a child! Come on look at this guy, you think he even has a soul? They need to put down like stray animals.

He should have never been let out. The judge and the DA should be called to tell the community why they allowed him to plea to this.

Now THIS is a Death Penalty case if there ever was one. How could he? How could he do this?

They should have never let him out until the boy recovered. This just makes me sick.
