A Lenoir County man is accused of trying to kill his estranged wife during a shooting at her house Wednesday evening, according to the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said that Norman Edward Rich Jr., 39, of Snow Hill, broke into a home on Yardley Lane, west of Kinston, around 8 p.m. He got into a confrontation with his estranged wife and her 50-year-old friend and fired a gun, authorities said.

The woman and her friend escaped unharmed and drove to a friend's house, where they called 911.

Rich contacted a friend, then turned himself in at the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, with his attorney present, authorities said.

Rich was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault by pointing a gun, assault on a female, domestic criminal trespassing and felony breaking and entering. He was placed in the Lenoir County jail under a $250,000 secured bond.

Authorities said that Rich and his wife are separated and living apart.

Not high enough!!!

Oh man....This ole boy lost his cool big time....I can understand he was hurt but you gotta move on man...A cheating spouse is not worth your freedom....

I hope all works out for everyone concerned here....Just find something to occupy your mind & let it go...

Dude, let it go.

I agree with SFsoldier. there are way to many other women in this world. no woman is worth acting stupid and catching a charge. move on and if that one don't work, look at yourself. make necessary changes and move onto another one.

Wow, all that over a woman? There are plenty of fish in the sea, bro'. You shoulda' gone and found another one instead causing all this violence. You need "hep" and I think prison will give you time to figure that part out.
