A traffic stop in north Raleigh Friday morning ended in the arrest of a Martin County man wanted on armed robbery charges in Philadelphia.

A state trooper stopped Marcus Demetrius Jordan, 21, of 113 W. Simmons Ave. Apt. 3 in Williamston, for going 79 mph in a 65-mph zone of Interstate 540, near Six Forks Road, authorities said. The trooper said Jordan gave a false name three times and struggled when the trooper tried to handcuff him.

Jordan ran into woods near I-540 but was arrested with the help of Wake County Sheriff's Office K-9 units, Raleigh police officers and tips from residents, troopers said.

He faces charges for resisting arrest, assault, giving false information and speeding in Wake County, but will be extradited to Pennsylvania to face the more serious charges there.
