RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was shot outside Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion Friday night as concert-goers lined up their vehicles to leave after a show by country singer Jason Aldean.

Raleigh police officers surrounded some cars as they left the parking lot, and a single victim was taken by ambulance to WakeMed shortly after 11 p.m. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said. His name and condition were not released.

Police said they were still interviewing witnesses Saturday afternoon to piece together what happened.

Most who attended the show were unaware of the incident and were not in danger, according to police.

Beth Lawrence said she was trying to get a taxi home from the concert when she heard about the shooting.

"They just told us there was a shooting in the back parking lot, and they weren't letting anybody in or out," she said.

Lawrence said the shooting turned an already crowded parking lot into a traffic standstill.

"It was horrific. We were stopped the entire time. We couldn't get out of there," she said. "I would say, for at least an hour or an hour and a half, we couldn't get out."

Aldean tweeted about the shooting, saying, "There's no excuse 4 things getting that heated leavin a show. I'm prayin 4 the fan who was injured and thanx to the Raleigh police for acting so quickly."

Anyone with information that might help detectives working the case is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-5357, or leave a tip online or by text message at www.RaleighCrimeStoppers.com. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
