Woman, child safe in Fayetteville after domestic incident

print friendly

A woman and her child were safe in Fayetteville Friday afternoon after a domestic incident that began in Hoke County, authorities said.

A man armed with a shotgun took his girlfriend and their child from Hoke County, Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said. The woman was able to escape from the car in Fayetteville and called for help.

Police traced the car to the Cambridge Arms Apartments complex, off North McPherson Church Road, Peterkin said.

The child was later reunited with its mother, but police decided not to file any charges against the man after talking with him inside an apartment at the complex.

Peterkin described the incident as a domestic situation that got out of hand.

So this guy wasn't even charged with child endangerment???

Absurd!!!

How much someone want to bet we'll be hearing about this guy again in the near future, and that he's either hurt someone or seriously tried to.

The cops shouldn't have left it at that - not when there was a child and a gun involved.

Really, no charges filed, wgat are they going to do when he actually uses the gun to kill her?? Don't think there is any reason at all to hold someone at gunpoint. I hope she is safe with him still being out and in no trouble. Praying or her and her little one.. Been in a domestic abuse situation in previous years and it is not a good feeling. Cannot see where police made the right decision

Unbelievable!! Hopefully they are found safe and sound next time he pulls a gun.

How is it possible to not file charges against someone who abducted someone at gunpoint? And in domestic violence situations, now, the state files charges not the woman so it's not like she could have just refused and that would be the end of it. I guess they'll wait and charge him later, after he shoots her the next time. Ah, Fayetteville...

How can one put 'safe' and 'Fayetteville' in the same sentence?
