Fayetteville, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's detectives are looking for a Fayetteville man who, they say, was caught breaking into a home.

It happened Wednesday on Sambo Jackson Road in Wade, authorities said, when a concerned citizen noticed a suspicious vehicle parked under a carport and somehow blocked the vehicle from leaving the house.

When the man, identified as Marquise Lamont Booker, exited the house, the citizen briefly held him at gunpoint while calling 911.

While on the phone, another man fled the scene, and Booker turned a handgun stolen from the home on the citizen, authorities said.

Booker fled the scene by ramming his vehicle into the homeowner's and citizen's vehicles. He also fired shots as he drove away.

Investigators did not say whether anyone was home at the time of the alleged robbery or if anyone was injured.

Booker, 27, of 6319 Raeford Road, is wanted on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, injury to personal property, felony conspiracy, injury to real property, felony breaking and entering, and felony larceny after breaking and entering.

Booker is considered armed and dangerous, and authorities believe he might have at least two weapons that were stolen from the home.

He is black, stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 177 pounds. He has short cropped hair and brown eyes.
