Fayetteville police have arrested a woman in connection with a drive-by shooting that happened early Thursday.

Shakira Shanese Townsend, 23, was charged with one count each of felony conspiracy and felony assault with a dangerous weapon inflicting seriously bodily injury.

Investigators did not provide a motive for the shooting but said Townsend shot Lencie Ireland, 19, outside a home in the 6200 block of Elstree Place.

Witnesses reported a silver vehicle pulling up shortly before 1 a.m., and someone firing at Ireland and another person before driving away.

Ireland had been shot in the legs, police said. She was treated at a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police are still investigating the shooting and ask that anyone with information that could help their investigation to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

Hey Piene2....why not make comments about how we should take guns away from criminals? Oh yea, that's right, there is no way to take guns away from criminals, just the honest people.

@Michaelclay...yep sounds like one to me @Chicodusty ... or into todays world could have beena woman @ the ctr of the anger...not always a man...lol

Rebelyell55, if she drove up, stayed in the car, shot someone and then drove off, that's a drive by.

I would bet a man is at the center of the anger between these two lovely young ladies...lol
