Fayetteville home invasion prompts crime alert

print friendly

A home invasion in the Birch Creek subdivision near Fayetteville Wednesday prompted authorities to warn nearby residents to be on the alert.

A teenager home alone around 1 p.m. Wednesday said that a man rang the doorbell, knocked on the door and kicked it open when she did not answer, said Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. The teen hid in a back room and called 911.

The man was last seen wearing a red baseball cap and driving a silver car.

Tanna urged residents in that area to stay alert and be aware of potential danger.

Anyone with information about the break-in asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.

Hope the guy is caught, by law inforcement, INSTEAD of a bullet. He may not be aware, but some people actually have guns in their homes, for just this situation! Strawberry Letter 24

To bad it wasn't a bullet instead of law enforcement! Then no one would have to worry about this crimial again. We're lucky this girl wasn't hurt and thank God for that.

Amazing, avarage response time of the police is 23 minutes, a Glock 17 is 1300 feet per second. Arm yourselves learn to use it and be responisble for your actions.

That's horrible. I would probably have had a heart attack if that had been me, and I heard some one kick the door in. Thank God she wasn't hurt.
