Fayetteville, N.C. — The United Way of Cumberland County on Tuesday activated a new call system to help users with everything from day care to food and shelter.
The N.C. 2-1-1 system is free and operators will be able to identify agencies that might be able to assist them in the fields of health and human services.
Callers can receive information about mental health aid, job training, support for the elderly and suicide prevention.
Funding for the program is from a partnership among United Way, city and county governments, and local healthcare providers.
The 2-1-1 system program covers about 86 percent of North Carolina.
