A 23-year-old Fayetteville man was in critical condition in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center early Tuesday after being shot in the 5400 block of Wichita Drive late Monday, authorities said.

Fayetteville police responding to a shooting call around 11:30 p.m. could not find a victim, but did find evidence that a shooting had occurred. A short time later, the victim arrived at the hospital after being driven there by a friend, police said.

The name of the victim was not released, but police said Tuesday he was listed in critical condition and could have sustained as many as three gunshot wounds.

No other information about the shooting, including a motive or possible suspects, was released.

Not to worry, we're building the numbers of shootings at an exponential rate. Pretty soon the shootings won't even be worth mentioning.

Well here is the first of the day's crop of shootings. One wonders if we will have our usual three or four.
