Cary firefighter charged with sex offense at Greensboro park

Cary, N.C. — A Cary firefighter who also worked as a substitute teacher in the Wake County Public School System is facing charges after police said he had sex with a minor in the restroom of a Greensboro area park in June.

Christopher Angelo Manzo, 22, of the 600 block of Silverberry Drive in Pittsboro, is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old boy during an arranged meeting at Bur-Mil Park, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

Manzo, who was arrested Monday while at the Cary Police Department, was released to the custody of Greensboro police and charged with statutory sex offense and two counts of indecent liberties with a minor.

He was in the Greensboro jail late Monday under a $100,000 bond, reduced from $150,000.

A spokeswoman for the town of Cary said Tuesday that Manzo has been a firefighter since September 2008. He remains employed there and was arrested while on duty, she said.

A spokeswoman for Wake County schools confirmed he was a substitute teacher from Feb. 13, 2012, to June 7, 2012, but is currently not approved to provide substitute services in schools.

What is it with all these commenters making broad statements with no evidence to back up their claims? "He probably..." is your opinion, but it's not a very good one. An opinion still needs evidence to be credible.

Who am I kidding, though. You guys aren't reporters for a reason.

That is not how nature is set up. It's how *you* think nature is set up, but biological scientists with many years of experience know this not to be the case. If nature is set up like this, please provide evidence from a credible scientific source (the bible is not a credible scientific source--it is the outline for a belief system that not everyone follows).

anyone that believes you do not get to guess your sexualty is correct. you are born heterosexual and that's the way nature sets it up.

Bubba, please join the 21st Century. People don't choose their sexuality by experimenting with different genders. You are either born "Straight or Homosexual" please tell us all about the day you decided to become straight and not homosexual. You can't can you. You just knew from an early age you were attracted to the opposte gender. No different than homosexuals whom knew that they were attracted to same gender as themselves at an early age. They are born that way. Bisexuals are attracted to both genders in the same manner.
