The North Carolina State Highway Patrol on Thursday identified the three people killed early Sunday in a wreck in northern Wake County.

Martin Anthony Kokus, 21, of Rougemont, Marissa Paige Blanks, 19, of Roxboro, and Tyler Wayne Duncan, 20, of Roxboro, died when Kokus lost control of his 2005 Toyota Scion on Old Weaver Trail Road, authorities said.

Troopers determined that the Scion was traveling at 65 mph when it went off the right side of the road in a slight curve to the left. The posted speed limit for that stretch of Old Weaver Trail Road is 45 mph, authorities said.

The Scion went more than 250 feet off the road before hitting a tree and erupting into a ball of flames, trapping all three people inside, authorities said.

What a shame. Another tragic loss of young adult's lives because of speeding. I pray their families will find peace through this.

My son was a friend of Marissa...............R.I.P.

Prayers for the families.

Late with the names. WTVD had it a few days ago.

I knew Marissa... breaks my heart.
