Overturned SUV closes Davis Drive in Cary

print friendly

Davis Drive was closed for more than an hour Thursday after an SUV went over an embankment at Carramore Avenue and overturned, Cary officials said.

The driver was trapped inside the SUV, but police and paramedics were able to free her shortly after the 11:30 a.m. accident. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

Drivers were advised to use Preston Village to get around the area. Davis Drive reopened at 1 p.m.

If it was a tie rod end or ball-joint then why do we still have a vehicle safety inspection in place in the county. Thats what it is in-place for and if it is not working then do away with the program and fees.

Ok. So the area of the accident was not a curve. She went up an embankment and then down into someone's backyard. So, if you were not there, and did not see the accident, or the location of the accident. Quit speculating and let the police figure it out.

"an Altima, is NOT an SUV. Someone is wrong. tie rods seldom break, but the ball-joints do fail, but usually they thump and clunk for a long time before actually separating, giving the owner lots of opportunity to get it checked out and repaired." fredk

Pretty much exactly what I said but the moderator decided not to post it for some unknown reason. A tie rod is not going to break on a leasurely drive down Davis Drive, a straight, smooth road. Also, the accident just happened a few hours ago, I doubt anyone has diagnosed the cause if it was a mechanical failure.

it was a nissan altima and the tie rod broke causing her to lose control.
