Autopsy: Spring Lake man shot seven times

Spring Lake, N.C. — A Spring Lake man was shot seven times at an apartment complex in May, including one close-range shot to the face, an autopsy revealed Monday.

Harnett County sheriff's deputies found Christopher Darrell Davis, 25, dead inside an apartment complex on Sweet Lane on May 23. Jamie Delano Benson was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting.

A possible motive has not been released and it wasn't clear whether the two men knew each other.

The autopsy found that Davis was shot in the chin at close range and suffered six additional gunshot wounds to his chest, back and arms.
