Two brothers were shot early Sunday during a large party at a Sharpsburg home, police said.

George Ruffin Jr., 18, was killed. Travis Ruffin, 22, was listed in serious condition Sunday afternoon at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Police said the brothers were involved in an altercation during the party, at 124 Weaver Circle, and then witnesses heard gunshots.

The shooting is under investigation. Police have not identified any suspects.

Wow! Are you telling me that we can cut shootings by ten percent just by not passing out guns like party favors? That is fantastic! We need to get on this right away.

If only you people against guns would realize 90% of these types of crimes are committed by people who would never lawfully be granted a firearm in the first place.

Shortcake, you are dead on. The WRAL writing team needs to be more specific with the news they want us to know. The brothers were involved in an altercation?? Were they fighting each other or some body else? Witnesses heard shooting. Was this altercation not loud enough to attract attention so somebody could possibly have seen something as well??

I wish people would realize that guns and violence only cause more trouble. How did all these parents raise their kids to think that living the "street life" was acceptable and going to jail is a right of passage?

It was most likely someone just standing their ground. Let us keep passing out those six shooters.
