An 11-year-old boy crashed into a car while riding his bike in Fayetteville Thursday afternoon, leaving him in serious condition, according to police.

Darren Minor was riding his bike downhill on Barber Avenue and didn't stop in time at the intersection with Boros Drive, police said. He struck the front corner of a Honda Accord and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. No charges have been filed, and no other information was released.

Really? Is that how your loving, caring deity treats innocent children?

With friends like that...

piratepeople2 exclaimed, “how dare you question someone's belief in the power of prayer!! That may be the only thing that will help this child!”

Would you take this injured child to a church or a hospital? Why?

Bicycle riders are supposed to ride single file, close to the edge of the road, and walk them across intersections

Bicycles have the full use of a lane, just like a car, except on highways where they cannot maintain minimum speeds. They are not obligated by law to yield to a car. Even though it is the law, I think it is needlessly risking one's life to ride like that, being in the right does no good if you're dead. They do NOT have to walk their bike across an intersection, but they must stop at all stop signs and follow all the rules of the road just like a car.

The fact remains: a child is seriously injured at an intersection that is dangerous for reasons that are clearly avoidable. My heart is with the boy and I hope he recovers well. May God be with him and comfort him at this time of need. By The way, enlightened one, where is the children's bike riding park near any home here? Not Mazerick, not Honeycutt. Bicycle riders are supposed to ride single file, close to the edge of the road, and walk them across intersections. Stop at stop signs. Kids? They didnt take the drivers training. Might not like it but that is the rule. Anyone want to show me something different? I bet the lawyers for the child will be in the area wondering what extenuating factors caused this. Thanks to the news for being there to help out.

I bet your heart is still beating fast. sheesh

Does the girl know how lucky she was, or was she oblivious to the danger she'd been in?
