Police say there are no apparent signs of foul play in the death of a Chapel Hill woman whose body was found Thursday morning in a downtown Raleigh parking deck.

Officers found Miriam Hazelene Scott, 46, around 6:45 a.m. in a stairwell, at 128 W. South St., near the Raleigh Convention Center.

Her body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy, a police spokesman said.

He did not have further details about the case.

My condolences to the family. Shame on you people making jokes about this woman's demise. Someone out there may have lost a wife, mother, daughter and/or friend.

TeresaBee: they DID put the age and even put the woman's name - so sad.

Wow, to die alone in a parking deck stairway. How sad.

it's all speculation at this point until the police release more details like age of the person, drugs or alcohol involved, was she homeless etc. Why put out the report with such little detail?? Why not wait to report it until all the info. is released?

The convention center wasn't built to MAKE money, it was built to bring money into the city through hotel, restaurants and other businesses- and it does just that. True they may not be bringing in the cash at the RCC end, but the crowds downtown when they have an event shows me that the businesses downtown are doing well- and THEY pay taxes based on what they bring in- in turn making money for the city/county/state.
