Durham police investigate shooting death

print friendly

Police said Tuesday that they are investigating a Sunday night shooting death in south Durham.

Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of C View Street shortly after 9 p.m., and when they arrived, they found a 16-year-old boy dead inside the house, police said.

The victim's name hasn't been released, and investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding his shooting.

Officers found two guns inside the home that had been reported stolen during a Saturday burglary at a nearby residence.

Jamond Alston, 17, of South Alston Avenue, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of stolen property, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Durham County jail under a $50,000 bond.

No charges have been filed in connection with the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 919-560-4440, extension 29320.

So they robbed their neighbor and then the kid got shot with the gun they stole? Sounds like Karma to me.

ncouterbanks69, Raleigh is keeping up with Durham lately in shootings and stabbings if you read the headlines. Look at Fayetteville and other areas also and there is senseless shootings and deaths everywhere. You should focus on the loss of a young persons life in this senseless crime rather than taking a chance to County bash.. Be part of a solution instead.......

How awful! Parents: PARENT your children! I bet Mom/Dad was no where to be found! 16 YEARS OLD!

So sad. These boys should be at the beginning of their lives - not at the end...

banks69 this happens in every city/town wow
