A Durham man faces assault and driving while impaired charges after a 5-mile chase along Interstate 85 early Sunday.

Granville County Sheriff Brindel Wilkins said that a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle with suspicious tags, but the driver sped off. Authorities pursued the vehicle until the driver pulled off I-85, stopped on Geer Street and ran.

Authorities searched the area and arrested Ronnie L. Bullock, 55, near where he lives on Redwood Drive, off Geer Street, Wilkins said.

Bullock was charged with felony speeding to elude arrest, misdemeanor aggravated assault, misdemeanor criminal damage to property, DWI and various misdemeanor traffic violations. He was placed in the Granville County jail under a $200,000 secured bond.

Bullock has seven convictions, including drug charges, dating from 1988 and has served one nine-month jail sentence, according to state Division of Adult Correction records.

PCP is a hell of a drug.

I just don't get why folks continue to run, they pretty much ALWAYS get caught. Guess they just hope they are in that small % that doesn't.
