A man and woman from Orange Park, Florida were hospitalized Friday afternoon after their SUV crashed on Interstate 95 northbound in Johnston County.

According to the State Highway Patrol, Joan O'Neil Michel, who was driving, lost control, hit the guardrail and flipped the vehicle after falling asleep at the wheel. Michel, 69, was charged with failure to maintain lane control.

Michel and the passenger, 77-year-old Michael Wesley Paul, were taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

The interstate was closed in both directions for less than 45 minutes while an emergency helicopter landed to transport Michel to the hospital.

Don't be ignorant. They close the road so that they can investigate the wreck... and to ensure that they can do so safely.

Too bad you were inconvenienced. It's such a me, me, me world. It makes me sick.

If the Easter Bunny drops a jelly bean on a roadway in NC the police will close the highway no matter who is unnecessarily inconvienced!

And I am sure that Speed nor Rubbernecking had anything to do with the closing of the Interstate..
