Firefighters estimated 7,000 turkeys died early Wednesday when fire destroyed a large turkey house off of Brothers Road outside La Grange.

The building, a simple wooden frame with a tin roof, burned to the ground just before dawn.

No people were injured, and the cause of the fire had not yet been determined.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't like factory farms. I get meat from Whole Foods.

My heart goes out to those birds. That must have been so scary.

"No animal deserves to live like that. I hate Factory farms. 68_dodge_polara"

Based on this statement, are we safe to assume that you are a vegetarian?

"There are such strict guidelines for animals. Is this one of those things where the people in charge (government positions) let it slide? If so, fire them. We, the people, do not pay our government employees to NOT do their jobs. Those poor things. I hope the person raising them will NEVER be allowed to raise another living creature again. UNLESS he chooses to protect them properly." caryzoo

Not really sure what your rant is all about. This was a fire in the early morning hours. What in the devil do government workers have to do with it? And why should the person raising them be penalized? Fires happen for many reasons....electrical, storm or even arson. Until we know what may have caused the fire I think we should refrain from such vitrial.

Those poor birds, no animal deserves to die like that.
