A 16-month old Spring Lake boy found unresponsive at home this week died after being beaten, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

The body of Kaiden Demus was found inside a home at 2716 Edwards Ave., and the initial dispatch call around 9:30 a.m. Monday indicated he had been found unconscious in a bathtub.

Authorities said an autopsy determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

Detectives said the child was in the house with one adult when deputies responded to the home.

No charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation, authorities said.

charges should have been filed immediately in the murder of this baby.

WHY haven't charges been filed yet...you know they know who did it..If there was only one adult at home...Come on now

If they know the child was beaten, and there was only one adult at home.......why haven't charges been filed yet? The child certainly didn't beat himself to death. So very sad that a poor, defenseless baby was killed at the hands of either his parent or a caretaker.

How could you hurt a child of any age? My heart goes out to the child. As for the perpetrator there are no words to describe what should be done to him!!

The perpetrator should face the same consequences.
