GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Two separate shootings injured four people at a barbershop and a graduation party in Goldsboro within four hours this weekend.

Police said that an unidentified person opened fire during a graduation party at Party Central, 800 Corporate Drive, around 2:20 a.m. Sunday. Bullets struck Christah Tanjere Battle, 17, and Michael Deshaun Sawyer, 20, both of Goldsboro.

Sawyer underwent emergency surgery at Wayne Memorial Hospital, and his condition was stable Monday. Battle was treated and released from the hospital.

Around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Vanradius Vonyell Fields, 26, and Shawn Naurice Holmes, 27, both of Goldsboro, were shot at Headquarters Barbershop, 533 E. Ash St., police said. Wayne Memorial Hospital staff said Monday that the condition of both victims was stable.

Police have not commented on a motive or possible suspects. Neighbors told WNCT News that a fight broke out during a rap battle, and someone pulled out a gun.

Holmes was convicted of manslaughter in 2006 and released from prison in January 2011, according to state Division of Adult Correction records.
