A car involved in a wreck on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh Saturday evening struck and injured a man standing on the sidewalk.

Police said that Shana Hoffman Barefoot, 66, of 1009 Parker St., ran a red light and struck an oncoming vehicle while turning left from Hollyridge Drive onto Glenwood Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. The second vehicle ran off the road and hit Mahmoud "Sammy" Ismail Abdelalim.

Abdelalim, 62, of Raleigh, was in critical condition in the neuro critical care unit at WakeMed.

Barefoot and a 14-year-old girl in her car were also taken to WakeMed, while the Audi driver, 18-year-old Wisam Adnan Al-Dwehji, of Raleigh, was treated at Rex Hospital.

Barefoot was charged with driving without an operator's license and failure to yield the right of way. Police said that Al-Dwehji had a steady green light to go through the intersection.

WRAL, please check the facts and post my latest post about Sam's passing.

Talking about being in the wrong place at the wrong time............... hope he recovers.

how sad, prayers to the injured

I work with Sam too & he is such a nice humble guy...always appreciative of favors & never has a bad word to say about anybody. This is such a terrible thing as some family is completely dependent upon him and they are struggling right now. I echo as400-guru's plea for prayers.

Sam works for my company and is a computer programmer on my team. Please pray for his speed recovery.
