Two soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg were killed Wednesday when the helicopter they were in crashed in Qarah Bagh, Afghanistan, the Department of Defense said Friday.

Capt. Scott P. Pace, 33, of Brawley, Calif., and 1st Lt. Mathew G. Fazzari, 25, of Walla Walla, Wash., were both assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.

Their OH-58D Kiowa helicopter went down after being engaged by enemy forces in Ghazni province, officials said.

Pace was a West Point graduate who had twice before been deployed to Iraq. He joined the 82nd CAB in October 2010.

Fazzari, a graduate of Gonzaga University, was on his first deployment after being assigned to Fort Bragg in May. He is survived by his wife, Tovah, and two sons.

There is a reason for deaths in wars. it's not for everyone to cry and mourn ans feel sorry. It's to show everyone the affects of war and that it is not the way. Yes they left us early but if people raise their fears voices like we should do and the country they protected like everyone claims. Then theirs and all the deaths in wars and the suicides would not be in vain. So what you gonna do about your living thing, will you make it better or just complain? No death is a waste in war or on the streets, see the message instead of the appearance.

I am anti-war and anti-dumb policy, too. We need to recognize that two men lost their lives far too early. I do not know what they thought of their mission or their reasons for joining the military and frankly, it's none of my business.

Farewell to Capt. Pace and Lt. Fazzari. May there be peace for their loved ones and peace wherever they go next.

We don't care about what happens in Aphganistan. They have no business being there for they don't protect my country I protect my country YOU protect our country. That is why the suicides are high people are starting to see the truth. Get on the border if you want to help us protect OUR country. ?

GET OUT OF AFGHANISTAN. Stop killing them, and stop our troops from dying for NO victory. Obama has NO vision of winning, just getting out and leaving a corrupt government who will be sharing power with the very people we are currently killing.

Since Obama took office, more US troops have been killed in his first 3 years than in Bush's 7 years, including the invasion and overthrow; and Obama has spent more money in those 3 years than in Bush's 7 years. Obama killed Osama in 'friendly' Pakistan, so declare victory and get out. What are we doing there?

Since running al Qaeda out of Afghanistan, al Qaeda moved to Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia where they have gained power while increasing in number. Pakistan is more an enemy now than pretend friend, and has stopped our convoys, imprisoned the doctor who revealed Osama's location to us after the US revealed that a "doctor giving vaccinations" gave us intel, leading to Osama's assassination. The Arab Spring is souring. Just get out!
