Johnston County emergency crews responded to a hydrochloric acid leak at Novo Nordisk Tuesday morning.

No one was injured and no evacuations were ordered.

Workers were moving a container with about 300 gallons of hydrochloric acid with a forklift when the container dropped and started leaking at the plant, at 3612 Powhatan Road in Clayton, authorities said.

Company spokesman Ken Inchausti said the solution, which is used in their waste management process, has been contained.

No other information was released.

This company is so careful about the saftey of employees, consumers and the community... THE WAY THIS IS WORDED SOUNDS HORRIBLE. Even if the tank leaked a Tsp. of liquid, they would treat clean up and injured tank with the highestest alert just to ensure everyone was safe even if common sense said "it is fine". Be very thankful there are GOOD companies who will risk tarnishing their own name in a news article just to take every precaution available...these people had rather treat every accident at the highest alert than to chance it. GOOD JOB NOVO NORDISK.
