Dog owner sought in severe neglect case

print friendly

A $2,500 reward is being offered in the neglect and abandonment of a female pit bull that was found tied to a pole with a telephone cord in Vance County, the Humane Society of the United States said Wednesday.

The group is offering the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible.

Vance County Animal Services Director Alex Hargrove said the dog was found Tuesday in terrible condition. The animal was emaciated, dehydrated and covered with mange and sores.

The mange is so severe that authorities cannot tell the color of the dog's fur, Hargrove said.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 252-492-3136.

It never ceases to amaze me how cruel people can be. When they find the person responsible, I hope they suffer the same fate....only then would people stop this nonsense.

Readme-MOST animal lovers and advocates HAVE adopted from the shelter.

Poor puppy.

This case just sickens me as to how anyone could do something this horrific to a helpless animal. I just look at my dogs' trusting eyes and wagging tails and wonder how anyone could be so cruel to leave a dog (or any other living, breathing creature)to fend for itself after being obviously abandoned. My dogs are shelter adopted, and they just seem to know they were given a second chance. I hope they prosecute this "person" that did this cruel act to the fullest extent that the law allows.

I love animals. I save over 80 animals every year just by not eating them. It's something to think about at meal time.

I hope this dog's cruel owner is found and punished to the full extent of the law. Enforcing required registration of household animals will help stop this sort of thing. It will also stop the euthanization of 250,000 animals in NC every year.
