print friendly

A Moore County man was shot to death during a party at a home over the weekend, the Moore County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Authorities said the victim, Jasmin Rorie, 23, of Candor, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Rorie had been at a party at a home at 248 McCoy Lane when the shooting occurred.

Investigators have not offered a motive and have not identified a suspect, but several people have been interviewed.

Deputies initially were dispatched to the home around 3 a.m. but were notified while they were on their way that Rorie had been taken to the hospital.

Piene2 is simply frightened of a gun. She probably has never held a gun nor shot one. People who are scared of something always want to get rid of that something and in this case it's guns. She just never had anyone show her how to use guns safely.

piene2, how many time do we have to say it, people kill people, guns do not kill people. Arming the public? Thats a choice of the individual (right to bear arms). There are times and places where guns should and shouldn't be. During a break in, on my nightstand or in my hand. At a party, no way. If the justice system enforced punishment quickly and harshly, crimes like this would diminish. jmf1073, yeah it was some party, someone's son or daughter is now dead.

Let us keep on arming the public!
