A Cary woman was injured Tuesday when she accidentally drove her car off a ledge at the Wake County West Regional Library, 4000 Louis Stephens Drive.

A witness said Pat Young hit a curb, suddenly accelerated and went over the edge of the parking lot, a plunge of about 15 feet. She was alone in the car.

Young was taken to Duke Hospital, where she was expected to make a full recovery, according to Susan Moran, spokeswoman for the Town of Cary.

Maybe headline should read "Woman hurt in accident OUTSIDE Cary library"- I'm with previous post, thought she had a book mishap! LOL

This is proof that she shouldn't be driving.

It's called pedal misapplication and the car makers invoke it all the time to explain why their make of car suddenly accelerated. (it means they step on the gas instead of the brake)

I thought, based on the headline, she might have dropped a book on her finger or something. :) Glad she's alright.

parking failure at it's best. Hope she's ok and drives more carefully now.
