Missing Parkton man found safe

Parkton, N.C. — A 70-year-old Parkton man who walked away from a rest home Monday night has been found safe, authorities said.

A Silver Alert was issued Monday night for Adam Fields Jr., who is believed to be cognitively impaired.

He was last seen at Green Manor Rest Home, at 1165 W. Parkton Tobermory Road.

Fields was found in Cumberland County Tuesday evening, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office said. He was doing fine and officers took him home.

Since you all seem to be experts, why don't you look up the rules and regulations for ASSISTED LIVING HOMES.......also known as REST HOMES. There's a NC website. He was NOT in a NURSING HOME or on a LOCKED UNIT. You can't just lock people up. It's against their rights.

What a sad and desolate area. If I were in a nursing home there I would try to walk away as well. I'd say the man wanting to leave shows that he might not be as impaired as some may think.

He is in a rest home. Most rest homes do not lock their doors to keep their patients in unless they are in an alzheimers unit. This article says he is believed to be cognitively impaired but it doesn't say he is not functional and should be in a locked unit. He may have access to come and go as he pleases. It would be up to the family to determine the care he is given........

Someone was not doing their job in allowing this man to freely walk away. They may be fired over this. You have the watch the residents for their safety. Why was the door not locked?
