Fayetteville police are seeking the public's help to identify a man who robbed a bank Friday evening.

Police said a man walked into the Capital Bank, at 225 Green St., around 5:45 p.m. and handed the clerk a note demanding money and stating that he had a weapon. The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, and he fled the bank on foot.

Police described the man as white, approximately 50 years old, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He is described as having a medium build, gray hair with a receding hairline and a mustache. He was wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt and blue jeans.

Investigators said they believe the man is trying to leave the area. Anyone who sees him or has information about the bank robbery is asked to call Fayetteville police at 911 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

Come on Fayetteville. You can do better than that. We need a murder to read about. You were on a roll there for about the last month. At least one every 24hrs. I used to have to go to Fatalburg at least once a week for 4 years for work. Was glad to leave that job. Had not been back in 25 years until about a month ago. Hope I don't have to go back again, ever.

He wanted to get caught he must desire attention or needs some place to stay.

He don't care if he's caught or not, it appears he looking to go back to jail, it's just too tough out here now.

wral.. have the story correct before it is posted

It was clearly done on Friday evening... 4/20/2012 posted on the picture from the bank video.
