A Fayetteville woman was injured early Monday and her 16-year-old daughter killed in a single-car wreck in Hoke County, authorities said.

The wreck happened at about 5 a.m. at the intersection of Johnson Mill and Adcox roads north of Raeford, authorities said.

Tricia Simmons, 41, was following her fiancé as he was taking his car to a repair shop, authorities said. She wasn't familiar with the area and lost control of her car in a curve, they said.

Her daughter, whose name hasn't been released, was dead at the scene. Simmons was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment, but her condition wasn't known Monday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation.
