Goldsboro, N.C. — A Goldsboro man faces charges that he stabbed and tried to kill another man Friday night.
Police said that Elfrey Contreras, 55, stabbed Willard Fowler in the neck at 400 E. Ash St. around 10 p.m. Friday. Fowler was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Contreras was arrested early Saturday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was given a $250,000 secured bond and scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
Contreras was put on probation in January after being convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, according to state Division of Adult Correction records.
