A paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg died last week after being blasted by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan, the Defense Department said Monday.

Staff Sgt. Tyler J. Smith, 24, of Licking, Mo., died April 3 in Kandahar province. 

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.

Saying that he was blasted is a horrible way to put what happened to him out there for the public to see. Think of how his family is feeling right now then they happen to that he was blasted by an IED. People should carefully consider the words they choose when saying someone was killed at war.
