Police on Friday filed more molestation charges against a former Archer Lodge Middle School teacher.

Paul Clifton Canally, 29, of 148 Buchanan Lane, was arrested last week on charges that he sexually abused a teenage boy numerous times over a 19-month span. Two days after his arrest, police filed charges of statutory rape and soliciting a child by computer against him in connection with a second alleged victim.

Police said Friday that a third alleged victim had come forward, prompting another four counts of indecent liberties with a minor.

Canally was a seventh-grade science teacher at Archer Lodge Middle School from August 2007 to July 2009, when he resigned for personal reasons, Johnston County Schools spokeswoman Terri Sessoms said.

The alleged abuse is said to have occurred between June 2010 and last September, police said.

Sessoms said there were no written complaints against Canally during his tenure, and the school district took no disciplinary actions against him.

Canally was being held Friday in the Johnston County Jail under more than $2 million bond.

Parents reported Canally to the School and to the School Board. The school never involved law enforcement or took disciplinary actions. With an untarnished record, Canally was able to teach at Archer Lodge for two full years. He also taugh at another school in Wake county, worked at summer camps, was able to live in a neighborhood that is next to two school with parks and pools. Last but not least, Canally was able to parade around as a trusted adult with lots of experience with children. That was until one brave victim came forward this February. To all the parent that reported Canally to Archer Lodge and/or to the School Board please re-report the claim to the Johnston county sheriff's departement if the incident happend at Archer Lodge or in the county, if the incident happend in the Clayton city limits please re-report the incident to Clayton police. Keeping Canally behind bars (away from our children) is the main concern.

SICK,SICK,SICK !! Use some of that great North Carolina Education Lottery money to put cameras in the schools.

I am a parent at this school now & was when this man was a teacher there. It burns me up to think the school had even a hint of a problem with this man and did NOT speak up. HOT !

you just cant trust anyone anymore

My husband and I are just 2 of many parents who brought this mans actions to the action of the Principle AND the Superintendent of Johnston County Schools 4+ years ago - LONG, FACE TO FACE MEETINGS with them. We were assured they would take care of it .... Now THEIR excuse is, nothing was in writing and they are trying to hide behind the fact that these actions he is (SO FAR) charged with, did not happen on schools property ... how do they know? Who cares where? They now state No disciplinary action was EVER taken against him ... so they LIED to us and left our kids in danger .... the JCS is accountable. Why s there no outrage directed at those that are to protect our kids? Read posts from the past week under anything about this guy - THE SCHOOL KNEW They had a problem with him - THEY DID NOTHING! OH and and he was hand picked to teach in our county! This is so sad for the many fantastic teachers out there. We have the same problems as Penn State but the media doesnt see that.
