Linden man accused of having sex with neighbor's dog

Linden, N.C. — A 33-year-old Linden man has been arrested after his neighbor says she saw him having sex with her dog.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Monday that Ray Lynn Mitcham Jr., of 8956 Rusty Road, was charged with a felony crime against nature.

The dog's owner, who is also Mitcham's landlord, told detectives that she went to speak with him on Jan. 2, and when she opened the door to his mobile home, she saw him attacking the dog.

The mixed-breed female was taken to a veterinarian, who recovered a DNA sample, sheriff's office spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said.

Mitcham was arrested Monday after his DNA profile matched the sample recovered from the animal.

"There's no way he can sidestep this," Tanna said.

Mitcham appeared before a magistrate at the county jail Monday morning and was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Disgusting. Couldn't he have at least bought a blow up doll? There is no place for this sicko in society. Neither humans or animals are safe from his perverse desires. People like this do not belong in prison and they do not belong on the street. He's lucky the dog's owner was not carrying a gun.

When I read or hear about things of this nature, sadly I have to say I'm not suprised. This has been going on for years, people just didn't talk about or publish it. There used to be a law that stated a man couldn't be in a sheep pen alone for the very same reason. There have even been stories of women with horses and large dogs. Supposedly there is a club in NC that specializes in this practice! Truth is still stranger than fiction and this story reinforces this belief. Not much suprises me anymore, sad to say. Thanks WRAL for reporting these stories, people need to realize that there are truly sick, disgusting and weird desires as well as twisted people in their own neighborhoods out there. You have to protect everything you love from predators, sexual or otherwise! Please keep reporting these stories, people need to know, no matter how sick it makes them and it wouldn't be so "funny" if it was your beloved pet, that is if you really cared!
