A Greenville man faces 10 sex-exploitation charges for allegedly possessing child pornography, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

Spokeswoman Christy Wallace said the sheriff's office, state Bureau of Investigation and Internet Crimes Against Children task force began investigating Michael Anthony Coward, 26, of 3151 Macgregor Downs Road, on Sept. 22.

Coward was charged Tuesday with 10 counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor. He was placed in the Pitt County jail under a $1 million bond.

Sheriff Neil Elks said his department has begun working with the ICAC to investigate child pornography in Pitt County. The ICAC is a U.S. Justice Department program that helps local and state law enforcement respond to cyber crimes against children.

That's true, Ambygirl, but it has exactly nothing to do with my point. Go Pirates anyway!

ThatGuyAgain-- Child pornography is illegal in the US

"Keep these people locked up and away from our innocent children and grandchildren!!!!!"

Uh, he WAS away from innocent children and grandchildren (and great grandchildren, to be silly about it). He was looking at pictures in the privacy of his home. Turns out his home wasn't all that private. What happens when the government decides that what you're looking at is evil and must be punished, folks? Or do you think it can't happen to you?

70% of what is on the internet is porn. Stopping a guy here or there who is downloading isn't going to make a difference. Cut off the head of the snake to kill the body. Just out of curiosity I looked up the "age of consent" in some neighboring countries. In Peru for example, it's 14. That means that anybody can take a photo of a 14 year old naked and it isn't considered child pornography. Also, why is it that you if you pay for sex, it's prostitution and against the law.....unless you film it. Then it's a legitimate industry. Laws are screwed up and need to be consolidated before it does any good. Yeah, they got this guy, but I guarantee there are 6 dozen other people viewing child porn within a mile radius of his house.
