Semi-trucks, car wreck on I-40, causing heavy delays near Cary
A wreck on Interstate 40 near the Harrison Avenue exit in Cary involving two tractor trailers and a car caused traffic delays and congestion in the area for several hours Monday afternoon, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Around 12:15 p.m., a tractor trailer traveling westbound made an improper lane change and struck the back of a car, which then spun out of control and landed in the middle of the road, troopers said.
The second tractor trailer swerved to avoid T-boning the car and ran off the road, slamming into the guardrail before going up the concrete embankment of the Harrison Avenue overpass. The driver was taken to Duke Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
The car driver suffered minor injuries and the other tractor trailer driver was not injured.
Charges are expected to be filed for the improper lane change.
The right two lanes of traffic were reopened around 5 p.m.
