A Raleigh man faces a misdemeanor child abuse charge for allegedly driving while impaired with a child in his vehicle, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant states that Olvin Javier Garcia Amaya, 21, of 1011 Skyview Drive, was caught driving impaired in Raleigh Sunday while transporting his nephew, who is under age 16.

Amaya was placed in the Wake County jail under a $1,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Sept. 16.

Where is the child?

I pray safely away from someone who would risk their life, as well as the lives of others, like this...just for a drink.

How selfish and thoughtless!

If you seriously do not believe that there is a HUGE chance this "person" is here illegally then you are not paying attention. Furthermore if you do not believe that illegals are not a problem then you have major issues.' ncouterbanks69

wow! I believe the fact that you look at this man and assume he is illegal is a sign of a big issue you have. Lets stop judging people based on appearances but rather by the content of their ... well I'm sure you know the rest of the quote!

At some point someone in my family came from another country, but that doesn't make me an immigrant. As for the "immigrant" in the article,

I saw no mention of this man being an "immigrant" perhaps he, like you, is the child of several genrations of parents born here in the US?

'I think you may need to wake up. "we were all immigrants at some point." Yea yea we all use to live in a cave so what? Stop living in the past and realize what is going on today. If you seriously do not believe that there is a HUGE chance this "person" is here illegally then you are not paying attention. Furthermore if you do not believe that illegals are not a problem then you have major issues.' ncouterbanks69

Woo hoo!!! Now that is nicely said.

"we were all immigrants at some point."

No, we weren't. I'm of Cherokee decent, was born here and therefore, not an immigrant. Aside from that being an immigrant isn't the issue. Being an ILLEGAL immigrant IS. In addition to being here illegally (having broken laws to do so and breaking laws to remain here) breaking the laws of the land because there's no respect for the laws (as evidence of previously and continuing disregard for them) is a huge issue.
