4 people found shot to death in rural Texas home

Authorities called to check on a family’s well-being in a rural southeast Texas home found the bodies of four people who had been shot to death.

San Jacinto County Capt. Carl Jones said Monday that 42-year-old Oliver Bills Jr. fatally shot his girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter and his adopted mother, 71-year-old Gloria Bills. Jones says Bills then killed himself.

Sheriff James Walters says the gunman “might have been off his medication.” He declined to elaborate.

Authorities have not released the names of Bills’ girlfriend or the 4-year-old girl. Both of them lived with Bills in the house that is about is about 55 miles north of Houston.
