Remains found in Fla. are missing child

Posted December 19, 2008

Orlando authorities say DNA tests confirm the skeletal remains recently found in the woods belong to missing toddler Caylee Anthony.

A county medical examiner said at a news conference Friday that the remains match Caylee's DNA profile, and that the death is considered a homicide.

A utility worker stumbled upon the remains last week, less than a half-mile from where the girl lived. Caylee had been missing since June.

Caylee's mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, was indicted in October on first-degree murder and other charges, even without a body. She has insisted that she left the girl with a baby sitter in
June, but she didn't report her missing until July.

A search team said they did not check the wooded area sooner because it was submerged in water.

I have a problem with this entire story. First of all it is one of the saddest stories I NEVER would want to hear about again. What I don't understand is the fact that the person who led police to the remains, had contacted the police several times about this area and two police officers went to take a look at this area in August. Where were the remains then and why was this person so persistent and finally months later this same person found the remains of this precious little girl. Something is not right with this picture at all. There were pictures taken of this area between the time the child went missing and the floods came and there was no sign of the remains in these pictures, this was before the floods. This was on one of the news shows last evening. Something it terribly wrong with this whole pack of lies. God bless the family.

I can't understand why the mother didn't give this sweet baby girl up for adoption. There are so many childless couples that could have raised her up in a loving home. This is sad, sad, sad....

I am curious about the report on the morning news stating that the police were told of the remains weeks ago. The original officer said he didn't find anything when he went out there.

I just cant imagine how a mother could do this to her child. I hope she rots in a prison cell.

I'll never understand how a mother can do this to a child that she carried for 9 mos. This is a sad world we live in.

This is no surprise that it is her. That poor child - what she must have gone through. I don't understand why they couldn't search sooner. They search ponds, lakes, etc. - why not a place "immersed in water".

I hope Casey Anthony lives to a ripe old age and every single day of it is spent in prison.
