Posted October 4, 2007

Consumer Recall

— Check your cupboards. Kraft Foods is  recalling packaged squares of white cooking chocolate because they may be contaminated with salmonella.

Kraft urged consumers to throw out six-ounce packages of Baker's Premium White Chocolate Baking Squares. The packages have UPC code 0043000252200 and a best-used date of March 31, April 1, April 2 or April 3, 2008. The affected products were distributed nationwide.

The recall does not apply to any other Baker's white chocolate prodcuts.

Salmonella was detected in tests conducted by the Food and Drug Administration. The company says it's investigating the source of the problem.

Kraft consumers can call 1-800-310-3704 toll-free to get more information or find out about getting reimbursement.
