Consumer Recall

Lakeside Foods Inc. of Manitowoc, Wis., is recalling 15,000 cases of its 14.5-ounce French-style green beans because some of the cans may have been under-processed and some may have leaked.

This could have lead to the beans being contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which causes botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning.

No illnesses have been reported, and no botulinum toxin has been found in any cans tested to date.

The cans – distributed in 20 states, including North Carolina – with the following code in the top line should be returned to place of purchase: EAA5247, EAA5257, EAA5267, EAA5277, EAB5247, EAB5257, ECA5207, ECA5217, ECA5227, ECA5297, ECB5207, ECB5217, ECB5227 and ECB5307.

The product was sold with the following labels: Albertson's, Happy Harvest, Best Choice, Food Club, Bogopa, Valu Time, Hill Country Fare, Heb, Laura Lynn, Kroger, No Name, North Pride, Shop N' Save, Shopper's Valu, Cub Food, Dierbergs, Flavorite, IGA, Best Choice and Thrifty Maid.

Consumers with questions can contact the company at 1-800-466-3834, ext., 4090, or by going to its Web site at www.lakesidefoods.com.

those brands taste terrible anyway, I buy stokley or name brands only. You can't buy cheap canned veggie's.

when it comes to canned vege's these by far are my favorite. Of course I always try and go fresh though. I just love French Style Green Beans.

oh no back to the rototiller

wow, this is getting scary, I second that garden thing!

These beans weren't canned in Cannes, were they?

What kind of beans might you expect to get at the opera? Perhaps the canned-canned variety.
