More than 21% of North Carolina's four-year-olds enrolled in the state's pre-kindergarten programs during the 2022-2023 school year, up from the prior year but still below the state's pre-pandemic highs, according to the National Institute for Early Education Research.

Hope you're having a nice Saturday. This is meteorologist Brian Schrader in the WRL severe weather center, mostly cloudy through the rest of the afternoon. It's gonna be a mild day with high temperatures in the upper seventies around the Triangle area, maybe touching 80 degrees in Fayetteville. We could see a few peaks of sun later in the afternoon as we take a look at future cast, you can see around four o'clock, maybe some of those clouds breaking up a little bit. Also you see on here a chance of some showers, especially south of the Triangle that's going to be with us as we head into the evening hours. So if you have dinner plans in Fayetteville, Pinehurst, Rayford, Lillington, Sanford Clinton, just want to keep that in mind. Much better chance of some showers breaking out much later this evening and into the overnight hours. But a nice afternoon to do some tailgating out at PNC Arena, the Cane play at five o'clock and you're going to be in good shape out there with temperatures in the mid and upper seventies again, mostly cloudy skies, but you will stay dry in the triangle the way it looks right now. Now let's take a look at tomorrow. We have a front that is going to be settling to our south waves of energy. A low pressure riding along it could bring us a pretty wet day tomorrow. Take a look at future cast widespread rain taking over the area as we head into the afternoon. This is not going to be heavy rain, just a light rain and it's also going to be really chilly tomorrow as compared with what we've seen over the past several days. Look at that high, just 61 degrees that may be measured at midnight. And then as we head through the rest of the morning, temperatures may gradually fall into the upper fifties. So tomorrow afternoon is going to be a chilly dreary damp day. Rain comes to an end. Sunday night. We have a little bit of a warm up as we head into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday looks dry. Note those chilly mornings though, with low temperatures in the mid forties. Many mornings next week, I am watching a front for a late in the week that could bring us a chance of showers by Thursday or Friday.
